Tulong Kamay

The Volunteer Program of FASA sa UW

About Tulong Kamay

Tulong Kamay, directly translated to “helping hand” in the Tagalog dialect, began as a Facebook group opened by Isabella Dalmacio, the Community Service Chair for the 2018-2019 academic year. Their goals were to share and showcase service and volunteering opportunities to FASA students and community members alike! It has now blossomed into a highlight of the Community Service Chair’s programming, developing a specialized committee, newsletters, our fundraising talent show dubbed “Rising Up for Relief”, and promoting opportunities to support the greater Seattle community! If you are interested in getting involved with the community and all of the ways you could create a better tomorrow, make sure to follow @TulongKamay on Instagram and look out for posts on upcoming opportunities looking for your helping hands!

Rising Up for Relief

What started as a virtual fundraiser for typhoon relief during the pandemic in 2020 has become one of FASA’s newest annual events: Rising Up For Relief Talent Show!

Bringing together talents from around UW and the Filipino community, Rising Up For Relief brings us all together to appreciate the brilliant talent—singers, dancers, musicians, amazing entertainers—that surrounds us while supporting causes dear to our kababayan. Past Rising Up for Relief charities/organizations include:

  • Typhoon Relief for the Philippines

  • UW Mutual Aid

  • Para Sa Bayan

  • The Filipino Community of Seattle

We celebrated our first hybrid hosting during our 2022 celebration of RUfR due to COVID-19 restrictions, but since then, we have been able to continue hosting in-person.

Information on this year’s 2023 Rising Up For Relief will be shared throughout Fall quarter, and we hope to see you rising up for relief!
